SculpSure® is a non-invasive body contouring procedure by CynoSure® that can create a tighter, slimmer shape in as little as 25 minutes. The process is FDA-approved for the reduction of fat cells on the abdomen, flanks, back, and thighs, helping tone these common trouble areas. SculpSure® works by sending laser energy to stubborn pockets of fat that have not seen improvement from diet and exercise. The technology utilizes a specific wavelength (1060 nm) that targets excess fat cells and does not affect the surrounding tissue, such as the skin, nerves, or vessels. As a result, the treatment is typically more comfortable and requires no downtime following each session.

SculpSure® Candidates

SculpSure® can often be a great solution for patients wanting a more athletic physique without undergoing a surgical procedure, such as liposuction. The treatment is ideal for those already at or near their goal weight who have accumulated excess fatty tissue in areas such as their abdomen, back, love handles, or thighs. These individuals can typically achieve a more toned look by the gradual fat reduction obtained through SculpSure®.

To ensure patients get the best possible results from their SculpSure® experience, our team at Richmond Aesthetic Surgery will create a custom treatment plan based on the patient’s desired outcome and how much fatty tissue is present.

The SculpSure® Treatment

To begin the SculpSure® process, a band will be placed around the area to be treated, and the four applicators will be secured to the target area. The treatment begins with the Contact Cooling system which helps patients remain comfortable throughout the process. Then, the technology will send thermal energy to the area to raise the temperature of the fat cells and gradually destroy them. A session of SculpSure® takes approximately 25 minutes per treatment area to complete.

SculpSure® Recovery and Results

It is normal to experience some discomfort following SculpSure®; however, no downtime is usually required, allowing patients to resume their normal schedule immediately after leaving our office. As the body naturally disposes of the treated fat cells, results can begin to been seen after about six weeks, and optimal results can typically be noticed at 12 weeks.

SculpSure® vs. CoolSculpting®

SculpSure® and CoolSculpting® are similar in that they are both non-invasive treatments designed to destroy fat cells for an improved body contour. While SculpSure® utilizes laser energy to heat fatty tissue, CoolSculpting® uses cooling technology to freeze it. Although the two options are similar, there are certain differences that make SculpSure® more appealing to many patients.

A SculpSure® session takes about half the time of a CoolSculpting® session. While the applicators may be smaller, they can treat more areas at one time, often creating a more efficient treatment. Following CoolSculpting®, some patients may experience pain along with swelling and bruising, which can prevent them from promptly returning to their daily routine. SculpSure®, on the other hand, typically creates more of a sore feeling, like they had recently worked out.

Another unique benefit of SculpSure® is the natural-looking toning results. In some CoolSculpting® cases, the patients can be left with a noticeable difference between the spot that was suctioned compared to the surrounding area. Since the SculpSure® applicator sits on top of the skin, and the laser goes beyond where the device is placed, there is a more subtle blending between the target area and the non-treated tissue. While both SculpSure® and CoolSculpting® have a high satisfaction rate, our team finds SculpSure® to offer superior results.
